Updated
Your first Hebrew conversation is set up to meet you where you are, whether you're brand new to Hebrew or already conversational.
1. Pick your goal
When you sign up, you choose what you want Hebrew for:
- Everyday Hebrew: chat, ask, and get by without switching to English.
- Family: talk with the people in your life who speak Hebrew.
- A trip to Israel: order, ask the way, and talk to people.
- Living in Israel: neighbors, appointments, and daily life.
- Work: speak up with colleagues in Hebrew.
- Jewish life and community: holidays, family events, and community in everyday Hebrew.
2. Answer Noam's three quick setup questions in Talk
When Talk opens, your coach Noam asks three short questions in English that you answer by tapping a button:
- How comfortable are you speaking Hebrew? (Completely new, some words, simple sentences, or conversations.)
- Can you read Hebrew letters? (Not yet, a little, or yes.) This is asked separately from speaking because many learners can speak some Hebrew without reading the script, or read prayer-book letters without speaking yet.
- Which forms of "you" should your coach use? (Masculine, feminine, or rather not say.) See How does my coach handle masculine and feminine "you" in Hebrew?
3. Tap the microphone and speak
Once you've tapped your answers, Noam opens your first scene. Tap the microphone, say your answer out loud (even a single word is great), and tap again to send.
